The Lipik landscaped public garden is the only spa garden in Croatia whose original design has been preserved to this day. The oldest cadastral map of Lipik dates from 1868. It is a neo-baroque French-type landscaped garden, determined by the geometric spatial organization and arrangement of vegetation.
Throughout history, the Spa Garden has always been the heart of Lipik, made for socializing and get-togethers. Lipik developed around an old oak forest that was gradually transformed into cultivated space where geothermal springs are used for medical purposes. The Spa Garden was designed in the 18th century, when it was complemented by new plants, paths and gazebos, and during the 19th century it became a well-known neo-baroque park, which is almost entirely preserved to this day, in the original area of 10 hectares without significant changes in the park composition, yet significantly devastated in terms of its vegetation. Even today there are two stylistic and design units: a historicist neo-baroque part with geometrically arranged gardens facing the main facade of the Spa building and a late romantic park with alleys, tree-lined avenues, pathway system and garden interior.
